Campaign Overview
Mokome Foundation is proud to introduce our Sanitary Stations initiative, aimed at establishing safe, accessible locations where underprivileged girls can access free sanitary pads and hygiene education. This campaign focuses on creating a network of sanitary stations across South Africa, ensuring that every girl has the resources she needs to manage her menstrual health with dignity.
Donation Goals:
- Primary Goal: Raise funds to establish 100 Sanitary Stations across underprivileged communities in South Africa.
- Secondary Goal: Secure monthly sponsorships from 150 businesses or individuals to sustain the maintenance and restocking of these stations.
- Tertiary Goal: Collect 15,000 packs of sanitary pads to stock the stations during the first year.
Proposed Activities:
- Campaign Launch Event (November 30, 2024):
- Description: Launch the campaign with a press conference and community fair in Johannesburg, showcasing the first pilot Sanitary Station and explaining the project’s impact.
- Objective: Raise awareness and initiate fundraising efforts for the first 10 stations.
- Target: Secure 15% of the primary donation goal and gain at least 30 monthly sponsors.
- Community Partnership Drives (Ongoing):
- Description: Collaborate with local businesses, schools, and community centers to host fundraising events and donation drives, specifically for the establishment of Sanitary Stations.
- Objective: Build local support and secure locations for Sanitary Stations.
- Target: Partner with 50 community centers across South Africa and raise 20% of the primary donation goal.
- Corporate Sponsorship Drive (January 2025):
- Description: Approach corporate entities with a sponsorship proposal, offering branding opportunities at Sanitary Stations and in campaign materials.
- Objective: Secure long-term funding for the construction and maintenance of stations.
- Target: Raise 25% of the primary donation goal through corporate sponsorships and secure at least 50 monthly sponsors.
- “Adopt a Station” Initiative (June 2025):
- Description: Launch an initiative where businesses, organizations, or individuals can “adopt” a Sanitary Station, covering the costs of maintenance and restocking for a year.
- Objective: Ensure the sustainability of the stations and foster a sense of ownership within communities.
- Target: Get 30 stations adopted by the end of the initiative.
- National Hygiene Awareness Week (June 2025):
- Description: A week-long campaign focused on menstrual hygiene education, with workshops and seminars held at current and planned Sanitary Station locations.
- Objective: Educate girls on menstrual health and hygiene, and engage the community in supporting the initiative.
- Target: Establish hygiene education programs at 50% of the Sanitary Stations and secure additional donations for the remaining stations.
- Virtual Fundraising Walkathon (August 2025):
- Description: Host a virtual walkathon where participants can walk or run from anywhere in the world to raise funds for the Sanitary Stations.
- Objective: Engage a global audience and increase online donations.
- Target: Raise 10% of the primary donation goal and gain 1,000 new online supporters.
- Back-to-School Hygiene Kit Distribution (August 2025):
- Description: Distribute hygiene kits, including sanitary pads, soap, and educational materials, to girls at schools in underprivileged areas through the Sanitary Stations.
- Objective: Ensure girls are equipped with the essentials as they return to school.
- Target: Distribute at least 5,000 kits and encourage donations to stock the Sanitary Stations.
- Campaign Closing Event (November, 2025):
- Description: Host a closing ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the campaign, highlight success stories, and outline the next steps for the Sanitary Stations initiative.
- Objective: Reflect on the campaign’s successes, secure final donations, and set the stage for ongoing support.
- Target: Achieve the remaining 30% of the primary donation goal and establish a plan for the continued expansion of Sanitary Stations.
